Sony MZ-NF610 High Speed Net MD Walkman Recorder Review
I bought this little guy 2 years ago right in the heart of the MP3 player craze. Everyone I knew had an ipod or some alternative, which they paid 0-0 dollars for. I did a little research and had always been curious about this technology since I had seen it in the mid-90's. After price and review comparisons, I picked up the Net-MD 610... and boy am I happy. br /br /A friend warned me when I bought it telling me that he was done with anything that played an external media source (discs) because they will always skip. But after over 2 years and having dropped it several times. Once recently at the gym where it skidded off the treadmill and onto the floor several feet away, not only did it not skip, but it kept playing. The various compression formats this player has available to it makes it able to hold up to and over 5 hours of music. All for less than 0. I say thats pretty darned good. br /br /My only regret is that I bought this just before the Hi-MD format came out which made it able to nearly double its capacity... but I'm very pleased and still haven't bought an MP3 player. So if you are thinking about a player, check it out. You get a FM/TV tuner with external recording available. (Record directly from CD or radio) Which my girlfriend loves. Also the discs are cheap, about for 5. Which ups your capacity for very very cheap. And they can be burned an infinite number of times, rearranged in their queue, and have multiple or single songs deleted. It acts like an MP3 player inside a small little disc. Check out this guy before blindly buying into an MP3 player. It might not be for you, but maybe it will.

Broke within 6 months of light usage - H. Song - LA, CA United States
I liked the idea of CD like storage so I bought the MD recorder.., but this unit just broke within 6 months of very light use. I would stay away from Sony in the future.
Walkman is like the Silver Model, Comes with a radio. and High Speed - Adam Ebel - Virginia Beach, VA
This Walkman is much better and good features, except it does not record br /from the radio. This recorder is just like the MZ-NF510 CK that comes with a car kit. One thing different about it that it has a radio on the remote control. The radio works good, but the problem is that you cannot hear the sound better than if you connected to another radio source while recording, the volume control is on the remote control for the radio. Another thing about this model, is that it has high speed recording which is good for Sonic Stage users who make a lot of mini discs and needs the power supply, instead of just the batteries. This walkman would be a great peripheral device for making unlimited amounts of mini disc compilations. There is no microphone input so you would need a mic mixer to do live performances or home recordings to the line input. br /br /Reception : The radio however is ok, the AM reception is poor and FM and TV (well no TV signals after 6/12/2009) is mediocre. This one is good br /for just local FM station listening, but like I said you cannot recordbr /your favorite radio music programs. The weather radio reception is br /poor. br /br /
